Giclee print in acrylic block of Roman Fresco depicting banqueting scene from Herculaneum, Italy
$61.97 $68.86
This is a well preserved fresco dating to 50 B.C during the Late Roman Republic, and discovered at a villa in Herculaneum, Italy. Herculaneum was once a prosperous town and harbor in the area surrounding the Bay of Naples, close to Pompeii. It was buried in 80 feet of volcanic ash from the Vesuvius eruption in 79 A.D., leaving remnants of life there in vivid detail. The scene depicts a woman wearing a transparent silk gown while the man to the left raises a rhyton drinking vessel. Dinning Roman style, as shown here, was in a reclining position on couches with cushions, while waiters (household slaves), as seen here, served hosts and guests food and drink. Our 1-inch thick, polished blocks are crafted using a unique casting method that ensures crystal-clear, deep, and realistic images. The Giclee process is used to create the print, and it’s been enlarged for an unforgettable viewing experience. Just put it on a shelf, desk, or table and enjoy!
