This striking image is from the Altamira Cave in Spain where the very first prehistoric cave painting was discovered! That was 1868, and since then, this particular image of a steppe bison still ranks among the most widely admired of cave paintings. It dates from around 15,000 years ago created by artists who used charcoal and ochre (or hematite), often diluting these pigments to produce variations in intensity or light and dark. Our 1-inch thick, polished blocks are crafted using a unique casting method that ensures crystal-clear, deep, and realistic images. The Giclee process is used to create the print for an unforgettable viewing experience. These look great on desks, shelves or tables, and also make great gifts.
